Acupuncture

Acupuncture is very effective at treating a wide variety of common conditions and diseases in small animals. It is frequently used to treat pain associated with arthritis, back problems, and recovery from surgery. Other examples of conditions that may respond to acupuncture include:

  • Musculoskeletal disorders: arthritis, disc disease, hip dysplasia, muscle spasms

  • Gastrointestinal disorders: vomiting, diarrhea, constipation

  • Respiratory problems: asthma, chronic cough, chronic sneezing

  • Neurological disorders: epilepsy, deafness, chronic pain

  • Adjunct to chemotherapy: decrease side effects of bone marrow suppression, nausea

  • Urinary disorders: cystitis, incontinence, chronic renal failure

  • Dermatological problems: lick granulomas, allergic dermatitis

  • Behavioral problems: lick granulomas, aggression, anxiety

Prior to each treatment, the doctor will perform a thorough exam to ensure an accurate diagnosis from both a Western and Chinese perspective. Most animals tolerate the placement of the needles very well, and seem to feel relaxed as a result of the treatment. The doctor will recommend a frequency and duration of treatment according to your pet’s specific needs.

Cold Laser Therapy

Lotus now offers cold laser therapy!  Cold laser therapy—also known as low level laser therapy—is a state-of-the-art technology that delivers light of a very specific wavelength into tissue to reduce pain and inflammation and to promote healing at the cellular level. It is extremely effective at treating back pain and arthritis, skin problems like hot-spots, reducing inflammation in the bladder, and can even help with chronic kidney disease by stimulating the cells in the kidney. It can also be used to stimulate acupuncture points for animals that don’t tolerate needles well. Cold laser therapy is completely safe and pain-free.

Chinese Herbs

Chinese medicine is most effective when a combination of acupuncture and herbs is utilized. The doctor will most likely prescribe a formulation that combines several herbs according the specific Chinese medical diagnosis that they make for your pet.

Ozone Therapy

"Decreasing inflammation:Increasing the amount of oxygen delivered to the tissue in the form of reactive ozone decreases inflammation, pain and swelling, and helps increase healing.   Activating the immune system: Ozone therapy has also been shown to activate the immune system by stimulating cytokine production."  http://ivcjournal.com/ozone-therapy-in-the-veterinary-practice/
